Contemporary learning spaces and improved facilities form part of the works plan for the redevelopment of Montello Primary School which has been released for school and community feedback.
The works plan has been shaped by feedback received through school and community consultation and has the endorsement of the School Association.
Through this consultation, we heard that improving accessibility across the school site was a priority, as was improving staff and student bathrooms, parking, pick up and drop off areas, providing contemporary flexible learning spaces, breakout areas and outdoor learning spaces.
The redevelopment will deliver contemporary learning spaces, new outdoor learning and play areas, additional bathrooms, reconfiguration of the school’s entry and exit ways, improved pick-up, and drop-off zones for students. Ramps and a lift will also be installed to greatly improve accessibility across the site.
Local architecture firm David Denman & Associates has been working collaboratively with the project team on the design, with a focus on delivering the best possible outcomes for students and staff at the School.
The construction tender is expected to be issued in the first half of 2024.
The works plan is available by going to https://www.decyp.tas.gov.au/project/montello-primary-school/ and feedback can be provided to getinvolved@decyp.tas.gov.au from now until 24 November.
