We know that when children and young people feel valued, safe and supported they are in the best position to learn.
The Department of Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) has recently signed Grant Deeds with community organisations Working it Out and A Fairer World.
The funding will support the great work these organisations currently undertake to help schools build inclusive and respectful school cultures.
Working it Out will receive $900,000 over three years (2024-2026) to continue to support Tasmanian Government Schools to provide inclusive and accepting environments for all students with a focus on LGBTIQA+ young people.
A key focus will be on building capability of DECYP staff through professional learning.
Funding of $436,000 over three years (2024-2026) is also being provided to A Fairer World to build on and extend their current programs so that more schools can address bullying and discrimination and build a culture of empathy, respect and wellbeing.
