Update 8 April 2024: Applications have now closed.
The Department for Education, Children and Young People is offering a new scholarship program for speech and language pathology students to secure employment in Tasmanian Government schools.
This will not only create permanent jobs for the next generation of speech and language pathologists in Tasmania, but it will also bolster our vitally important professional support staff workforce.
Speech and language pathologists in our Government schools play a crucial role in supporting students’ communication skills, development and educational outcomes, with a focus on providing them the best opportunities for bright lives and positive futures.
A total of $225,000 is being invested in this new scholarship program. The program offers up to nine scholarships for speech pathology students who are currently enrolled in their final year of an accredited entry to practice program at an Australian university and expect to complete all requirements of their course in 2024.
Eligible students are encouraged to apply for a permanent graduate speech and language pathologist position, which will be advertised on the Tasmanian Government Jobs website. The advertisement will provide an opportunity to apply for the scholarship.
Scholarship placements are offered for the North and North-West and successful applicants will be provided with $25,000 to contribute towards university course costs.
