The updated Early Years Respectful Relationships Education (RRE) Teaching and Learning Package has been released!
This resource is one of four publications that supports Tasmanian Government schools deliver respectful relationships and consent education from birth to year 12. It is designed to provide support for early childhood educators and education and care providers.
The updated content now reflects the current evidence-base, contemporary practices in the early years. It is deemed age-appropriate, and adopts a trauma-informed practice approach.
RRE is about change – changing the attitudes, behaviours, norms, and practices that create environments in which gender-based violence occurs. It provides a holistic approach to school-based primary prevention.
In total there are 4 resources that have been reviewed by experts and are research-based. These are age-appropriate and include contemporary content to raise understanding of consent, coercive control, and grooming.
Each resource is aligned to the Australian Curriculum and aims to build specific skills and confidence in children and young people. It seeks to enable and empower them to live safer, violence and abuse-free futures.
Each resource is consistent with DECYP’s commitment under the Survivors at the Centre: Tasmania’s Third Family and Sexual Violence Action plan 2022-2027.
DECYP thanks the parents, carers, and representatives from early childhood organisations who contributed to such a well-rounded educational approach. These include Early Childhood Australia – Tasmania Branch; B4 Coalition and Lady Gowrie.
