A new Child and Family Learning Centre (CFLC) will be constructed in a central and easily accessible location to support Circular Head families with health and wellbeing services from pregnancy to age 5, with the preferred site being 33A King Street in Smithton.

CFLCs are warm, welcoming places for families and young children that offer a variety of services all in one place including advice on health and family matters, education and training.

Extensive community and stakeholder consultation, including the establishment of a Local Enabling Group (LEG), has now commenced to inform the design of the new CFLC in Smithton and the services it will provide to ensure these are tailored for local families.

The LEG will include parents, carers, community members, educators and service providers and the consultation offers the opportunity to become a LEG member.

New CFLCs are also on the way for the Dorset (Scottsdale) and Northern Midlands (Longford) communities, and the three new CFLCs will take the total number of Child and Family Learning Centres in Tasmania to 21.

For more information and to be part of shaping the new CFLC at Smithton, including registering to become a LEG member, visit www.decyp.tas.gov.au/smithtoncflc
