The Tasmanian Government is committed to building a new primary school at Legana, providing state-of-the-art learning spaces for 350 students and has partnered with the West Tamar Council to include a new community sports precinct around the school to enhance school and community facilities.

Construction of Legana Primary School is expected to be completed in the second half of 2024, with school operations commencing in 2025.

The intake area for the new primary school has now been finalised and families in the Legana and Grindelwald areas will be able to enrol their children at Legana Primary School. Those outside these areas may still apply under the Department’s out-of-area enrolment policy. The expressions of interest process for enrolments will be communicated in coming months.

Timeline

The initial phase of community engagement informs project planning and site development.

Phase 1 of community consultation for the new primary school was completed in April 2020.
