- The Guide provides information about decisions carers can make and those that must be made by the Child Safety Service.
- It is not intended to be a full list of all decisions carers can make. For more detailed information, please refer to the Foster and Kinship Carers Association (FKAT) handbook which can be found on the FKAT website under resources.

We are all committed to improving wellbeing outcomes for children and young people in Out of Home Care.
We heard from children and young people in Out of Home Care that lengthy approval processes can make them feel uncertain, frustrated and different to others. The Guide is not intended to be a full list of every decision a carer can make. The topics reflect the issues that children and young people in Out of Home Care raised as being the most important to them.
