Course description

Principals and CFLC Leaders at any stage of their professional journey and at any level of experience can benefit from engaging with a Mentor. A mentor is a person who shares knowledge, skills and perspectives to develop personal and professional growth of another.

Mentor sessions are confidential and undertaken by trained and skilful mentors.

Mentors and mentees are matched based on needs, interests and expertise. The matching process is facilitated by an independent provider (Mott MacDonald Education) to eliminate perceived conflict of interest or bias. Principals and CFLC Leaders have a final say on who mentors them.

Each principal or CFLC Leader is eligible for 20 hours of mentoring per year. The mentor sessions can happen across a year, at any time. The 20 hours can be with the same or different mentor, depending on the needs focus throughout the year.

Access to a mentor is through an Application Process managed by Mott MacDonald Education. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

There is no cost to schools.

Course outcomes

Mentoring can be used to meet the individual needs of a principal or CFLC Leader by:

  • discussing the current issues and challenges they might be confronting in the workplace
  • obtaining extra support in creating a school or centre structure or enacting a new policy and procedure
  • obtaining guidance around specific issues.
