Built by Her: Celebrating Women’s Pathways in Trades was an event designed to inspire and encourage more women to pursue careers in the trades.

Built by Her celebrates women already succeeding in trade careers while championing fair, visible, and supported pathways for the next generation.

The event brought together educators, industry representatives and community leaders who collectively help to shape career pathways for young women across Tasmania.

The goal of the day was to ensure that young women could not only see the opportunities available in the trades, but also feel confident and equipped to pursue them—with the support of women who are already leading in these industries.

Public policy leader Kym Goodes delivered a keynote address. This was followed by a practical, solutions‑focused panel discussion with women who are currently employed in trades.

Their insights highlighted both the progress made and the work still to be done in creating a more inclusive and equitable trades sector.

The event showcased student talent across various professions, including hospitality, cookery, music and media.

Students also provided professional catering, hospitality, front and back of house service, entertainment, and full videography and photography coverage for more than 45 attendees.

Built by Her represents a meaningful step toward a future where women have every opportunity to enter and thrive in Tasmania’s trades.
