Penguin District School is a government district school located in the coastal town of Penguin, midway between Burnie and Ulverstone. Formed through the amalgamation of the local primary and high schools, the school represents more than a century of public education in the community and continues to evolve in response to the needs of its learners.

Guided by the belief that “Together we aspire, we strive, we achieve,” the school places a strong emphasis on engagement, participation and deep learning. Relationships between students, staff and families are prioritised, recognising that learning is most effective when school and community journey together. While the school serves a large student population, care is taken to ensure every learner is known, valued and supported.

Teaching and learning at Penguin District School are grounded in inquiry and collaboration. Students are encouraged to explore ideas, trial approaches and reflect on outcomes, building confidence, curiosity and independence as learners. This shared approach extends to staff practice, with educators working collaboratively to continually strengthen learning experiences and outcomes.

Learning pathways support students from early years through to senior learning, with flexible opportunities that allow young people to pursue academic, applied and community-connected programs. As the only government school in the town, Penguin District School plays a central role in supporting positive futures for young people and strengthening community connection.

Through strong partnerships, an inquiry-focused approach to learning and a commitment to lifelong education, Penguin District School aims to equip students with the skills, confidence and opportunities needed to pursue meaningful pathways beyond school.
