Set within spacious grounds at the entrance to the township of Triabunna, Triabunna District School provides education within a close-knit coastal community on Tasmania’s east coast. Established in 1863, the school has a long and proud history of serving families in Triabunna and surrounding townships, supporting students from early learning through to Year 12.
As a district school, Triabunna offers a distinctive all-through learning environment that enables consistent whole-school approaches and strong relationships across year levels. Teaching and learning are guided by the values of Connection, Courage, Growth, Respect and Responsibility, with a strong focus on engagement, wellbeing and personalised pathways.
Students benefit from a broad curriculum aligned to the Australian Curriculum, complemented by practical and real-world learning opportunities. Programs include outdoor and environmental education, pathways and work-experience learning, student leadership through the Student Representative Council, and participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. These experiences support responsibility, resilience and community connection.
Through close partnerships with families and the wider community, Triabunna District School aims to foster creative thinking, problem-solving skills and a love of lifelong learning. The school is committed to ensuring every learner is supported to grow, achieve and feel connected within their community and beyond.
The school has Years 7-12 for students from across our municipality, including:
- Swansea
- Little Swanport
- Triabunna
- Orford, and

There are approximately 155 students in the school. Our K-12 facility provides a unique context with whole school approaches. This ensures the best learning opportunities for students. This enables the school to meet the educational needs of all its students.
