The Tasmanian Government is establishing a new Child and Family Learning Centre (CFLC) in Smithton. The new CFLC in Smithton will offer a variety of services all in one place to support families in the Circular Head region. It is somewhere you and your child can make friends, and they can learn as they play. CFLCs are welcoming places where you can get advice on health and family matters, education and training. For families and young children, they offer friendly and caring environments that support you with health and wellbeing services from pregnancy to age 5.
Extensive community and stakeholder consultation, including the establishment of a Local Enabling Group, is now underway to inform the design of the new CFLC and the services it will provide to ensure it is tailor-made to serve Circular Head families.
A number of potential site options have been considered for the new CFLC. The preferred site is 33A King Street Smithton (adjacent to Anzac Park). This site has been selected due to its suitable size, central location in the Smithton township for families in the Circular Head region, and proximity to a proposed new health hub and other community services and facilities.
Please take the time to complete the online survey from now until 22 May 2026.
